Gary Sampson, art historian, writes about the significance of the photographs in St. Lawrence University's Permanent Collection and places the works in historical and theoretical contexts. He and I invited two nationally recognized photographers, Bill Gaskins and Esther Parada, to contribute feature essays. Both artists address the politics of representation.
