Flying Tigers: French Air Force Acrobatic Team

The French Air Force acrobatic team performs over the airfield at Cambrai during the annual NATO Flying Tiger meet. Grandy was refused press credentials on arrival and was told he must go to Paris and apply at the U. S. embassy. To prevent him from taking pictures, he was placed under guard by the French officer in charge. He later found that a mixup of orders that caused an international incident of bruised egos between the French and British was the cause of his problem. With the help of American pilots, Grandy shook off his guard, sneaked through the hangar to the flight line and got this picture before he was thrown out. 16 June 1972.
