TAUNY Gallery The Folk Art of Fred Morgan
Many have laughed at the work of Norwood, New York's Fred Morgan (1913-1994). And that's just how he liked it. Known affectionately by friends and strangers alike as the "tuba-man," Fred's creative imagination spread far beyond his unusual mailbox. "He always had a project going," recalls his daughter Joan, "and it was what kept him going. He was happy as a lark." These projects ranged from the practical to the documentary to the whimsical. A tinkerer and inventor for much of his life, Fred began creating carved and painted dioramas after a stroke which left him partially paralyzed.
