Remington Art Museum Aug. 26-Nov. 4, 2001 Ruth Connell: A
Life in Flowers
Early
Pictures
From her school days in the 1930s Connell preferred flower still-lifes
to any other subjects. Flowers are cheerful to Connell, for whom color
is the most important element. These paintings represent the artist's
early work. She used an old red velvet dress as a background in the painting
from 1937.
