Starting Again

I don't like scenes.

After a 29-year hiatus, Connell painted the sugar shack on Canadian Thanksgiving 1969. She "walked down the road and painted it while the turkey was in the oven." This landmark scene is a rarity in Connell's work. Between her antipathy for "sitting on an anthill somewhere" and her love of flowers, the consistency of the flower paintings is not surprising.
