Lavender Blue

Martha Deming
Watercolor on paper, 2002
Frederic Remington Art Museum
Richard E. Winter Gallery
June 2 - September 1, 2002

The Central New York Watercolor Society was organized in February 1982 and is composed of a group of talented artists who have achieved recognition for their work in water-based media. Katherine Rushworth, a Syracuse-based art critic, juried this exhibit, selecting from works submitted by Society members.

This is the Society's third exhibition at the Frederic Remington Art Museum. The museum is pleased to work with the CNYWS to present the talent of regional artists and to celebrate water-based media. These media, excepting acrylic,— watercolor, ink wash, and gouache—were used by Frederic Remington in his early illustrations, landscapes, and sketches. Please note the certificates honoring Frederic Remington from the 1900 Paris Universal Exposition, the Society of Illustrators of America and his last American Federation of Arts membership card, outside the Richard E. Winter Gallery. Frederic Remington was also an associate member of the National Academy of Fine Arts.
