TAUNY (Traditional Arts in Upstate New York) is documenting cultural landmarks in the region, recognizing the significance of specific sites to local communities. Many of these sites would be overlooked by most historians, places like diners, Grange halls, country churches, barber shops, auto repair shops, cemeteries, bridges, and playing fields.

This exhibit is a small preview of a variety of sites that we consider VERY SPECIAL PLACES in our North Country. Celebrated documentary photographer Martha Cooper has photographed a representative sample of sites from six of New York's northernmost counties.
