North Country Public Radio ended six days of on-air fundraising with $205,000 in pledges. "We were thrilled to actually surpass the goal by $5,000," said Station Manager, Ellen Rocco. "In a time of economic and political uncertainty, we are indeed honored to have listeners respond so generously. I think these results reflect a general feeling among listeners that NCPR is the place to turn to for thorough, accurate, non-sensational reporting. Our regional and national news programs, coupled with a mix of music programming, have more and more people tuned in to NCPR."
NCPR's main studio
is located in Canton, New York. Through a growing network of transmitters and
translators, the station can be heard through northern New York, southern Ontario
and northwest Vermont. "Our geographic growth has had a direct and positive
impact on our ability to raise needed funds," said Membership Director,
Kathleen Fitzgerald. "We were especially pleased with the number of first
time givers who contributed during this drive."
