North Country Public Radio Concludes Successful Fall Fund Drive (10/28/03)

North Country Public Radio has raised more than $233,000 in its 2003 fall fundraiser, with pledges and contributions from more than 2,300 listeners throughout northern New York, western Vermont and Ontario. The on-air fundraiser came to an exciting conclusion Saturday night, when the station's goal of $225,000 was reached just minutes before the drive came to an end. The station is continuing to accept contributions by mail and via its website.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have raised more money from more listeners than ever before, and we are particularly delighted to have received support from so many first-time contributors all across our region," noted Station Manager, Ellen Rocco. "We are delighted with the positive response we received from listeners." Money raised is used to pay for programs and all aspects of the station's operation. Listener support is the largest single source of station income.

Membership Director Kathleen Fitzgerald credited the station's three-fold approach, using mail, phone and on-line pledges, with the drive's success. "We've seen a marked increase in on-line pledges. People can always pledge at our secure page, whereas sometimes they might find the phone lines busy. It's just another option, and one that more and more listeners are finding convenient."
