NCPR Expands Service to Lake George with 93.5 fm Transmitter (12/22/04)
North Country Public Radio has installed a new transmitter to serve communities in The Lake George region. The signal, broadcasting at 93.5 fm, is licensed to Lake George and is located on Prospect Mountain. Portions of Glens Falls are also being reached by the new transmitter and more research will determine if another facility in Glens Falls is needed to ensure full coverage.
Based in Canton, in St. Lawrence County, North Country Public Radio operates a network of repeater stations throughout the North Country. The format includes news and information programs from National Public Radio including All Things Considered, Morning Edition and other news and talk programs. The station also airs a wide variety of locally hosted music programs. NCPR's award-winning regional news broadcasts, features and interviews can be heard weekdays at 8:00 am.
The new transmitter is funded by a federal grant from the Public Telecommunications Facilities Fund, and generous donations from members of the Lake George and Glens Falls communities. "We have long heard from residents in the Lake George and Glens Falls area asking us to bring our signal to their communities and we are delighted to be able to do so," said North Country Public Radio Station Manager Ellen Rocco. "This extension is part of the station's commitment to serve the southern border of the Adirondack North Country and we hope that it will be a friendly companion and trustworthy resource for all of our new listeners."
