Carthage and Cape Vincent Added to the NCPR Service Area (7/29/05)
North Country Public Radio has increased its service area to include the communities of Cape Vincent and Carthage. Two new transmitters have been installed with new signals broadcasting at 93.9 FM in Cape Vincent and 102.3 FM in Carthage.
North Country Public Radio is based in Canton, New York and operates a network of more than 25 repeater stations throughout the Adirondack North Country. The commercial-free format includes a wide variety of programs from National Public Radio including All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Car Talk, Performance Today and more. NCPR's award winning news team can be heard weekdays at 8:00 am with regional news broadcasts, features and interviews. The station also airs an eclectic mix of locally-hosted music programs.
The new transmitters were funded by a federal grant from the Public Telecommunications Facilities Fund, and generous support from members of the Cape Vincent and Carthage communities. The sign on of both stations was celebrated at the Carthage Canoe-Dee-O, and the Cape Vincent French Festival. "We gratefully acknowledge all of the individuals who made these facilities possible," said North Country Public Radio Station Manager Ellen Rocco. "We are thrilled to be able to bring our signal to these two communities and hope that NCPR will be a wonderful resource for all of our new listeners."
