NCPR’s Sauter Elected to National Board

North Country Public Radio Program Director Jackie Sauter has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Public Radio Program Directors Association, a national organization that works to enhance the quality of public radio programs and stations, and serves as a clearinghouse for public radio broadcasters. The group’s membership includes program directors from hundreds of stations, independent producers, and national program developers and distributors. The eleven-member board provides oversight to the organization on a variety of issues including content, training, and new initiatives.

North Country Public Radio is unique in having three staff members elected to and currently serving on national boards in the public radio field. Station Manager Ellen Rocco is a member of the Board of Directors of National Public Radio; and News Director Martha Foley is a member of the Board of Directors of Public Radio News Directors Inc.

Said Sauter, “We’re all feeling very honored to be able to represent North Country Public Radio and have significant input with three important national organizations that really make a difference in terms of what listeners hear, and in terms of what public radio is and will be in the future. It speaks to the quality of what the station does overall and all our staff that we’ve been recognized in this way.”
