Schumer to speak after roll call vote for Clinton

Senator Charles Schumer takes the stage immediately following tomorrow’s roll call for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention. Schumer says he doesn’t expect any trouble. It could get awkward if some of the die-hard Clinton supporters were to cause a ruckus on the floor, but Schumer says he doesn’t think that’s very likely. New York’s senior senator is playing a dual role at the convention. He’s leading the national Democratic Senate election campaign, while working to soothe any lingering resentments from the long primary fight between Clinton and Obama. So is Clinton. Schumer Admits Disappointment that Clinton Is Not the Nominee

Karen DeWitt Denver, CO—New York Senator Chuck Schumer admitted to some sadness as he spoke about fellow Senator Hillary Clinton not being the nominee for president at the Democratic convention.

"Despite our feelings of maybe it could have been different, we know we have a task on hand, and we know Hillary Clinton will lead all of us in New York and in this country to make sure that Barack Obama wins this presidency," Schumer said.

Clinton looked relaxed as she addressed the New York delegates.

"Now I ask each and every one of you to work as hard for Barack and Joe Biden as you worked for me," she said.

Addressing the threat of some of her most fervent voters to support McCain instead of Obama, Clinton said she absolutely does not support that.

"If you voted for me, you have much more in common with Senator Obama... than you do with Senator McCain," she said.

"Of course it's disappointing, but for me, it's not just about what happens to me, it's about what happens to what I believe and what I care about," Clinton said.

"Professionally, politically, publicly, I am working as hard as I can to make sure we elect Barack Obama," she added.
