Extended story summary

New York delegates provided an enthusiastic audience for Governor David Paterson's speech Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

The roughly 200 members of the New York delegation chanted the governor's name for so long that he quipped that he'd already run out of his alloted speaking time.

State Democratic Party Chair June O'Neill said Paterson's remarks were "right on."

"He was right on, in terms of the difference between Barack Obama and John McCain, the difference between moving forward and fixing the problem and moving backward and pointing the finger," O'Neill said.
