Environmentalist Begins Swim of the Hudson
Jun 07, 2004 — Last Thursday, Christopher Swain dove into Lake Tear of the Clouds, the highest source of the Hudson River on Mount Marcy. Over the next eight weeks Swain will swim the entire 315 mile length of the Hudson in support of clean water. He'll swim through everything from whitewater rapids to raw sewage before stroking past Manhattan and out into the Atlantic in late July. Swain told Todd Moe his purpose is not an athletic one, but educating the public about cleaning up the Hudson.
