The Democratic Party opened its New York State Convention in Buffalo on May 29. The state Repubicans will follow with their convention May 31 on Long Island. We hear from our regular political beat reporters and see sketches by Empire Wire cartoonist Mark Wilson, who is attending both conventions.

Faso On The Rise

Republican candidate for Governor John Faso is gaining momentum against William Weld, just one week before the Republican Party convention. The Democratic convention is also next week -- a new poll shows that a challenger to Eliot Spitzer in the governor's race has failed to gain momentum.
