Readers & Writers: Kevin Young

Our guest, Kevin Young, is one a new generation of poets who find inspiration in the bittersweet history of Black America. Among his many books of poetry: Ardency: A Chronicle of the Amistad Rebels, Dear Darkness and For the Confederate Dead. Dale Hobson and Jackie Sauter host, along with guest Sarah Barber.

Report shows erosion of NY's middle class

A report by a policy think tank finds deep erosion of the middle class in New York State in the three year economic slump. Fiscal Policy Institute reports lower wages, except for Wall Street financial managers, 500,000 fewer people with health insurance, and food stamp use up sharply.

And overall, 500,000 job opportunities were lost in New York, representing a total income loss of $31 billion a year. Karen DeWitt has the details.  Go to full article

Hunter found dead in the Adirondacks

The body of a hunter who had been missing in the Adirondacks since Saturday was found on Wednesday. Russ Beede of Lake Placid was 63 years old.
