Fort Drum Soldiers Welcomed Home, Decorated With Ribbons
Apr 12, 2002 — In early March, soldiers from Fort Drum fought a pitched battle at Shah-I-Khot in Afghanistan. 8 American soldiers died in the fighting. None of those men were based in the North Country. But more than 20 Fort Drum soldiers were injured. Now, the troops who took part in Operation Anaconda are coming home. Brigadier General Thomas Goedkoop is an assistant commander with the 10th Mountain Division.
