All things local at "Farm 2 Fork" Festival in Saranac Lake

It's peak harvest season in the garden and Saranac Lake is celebrating fresh food and local farm abundance with its annual "Farm 2 Fork" Festival in Riverside Park this Saturday.

The event is a collaboration of the Adirondack Green Circle and the Ausable Valley Grange, with a mission to expand the support of local foods and local farms.

Todd Moe spoke with one of the organizers, Gail Brill, about what's new at the annual event. She says a bounty of locally produced food and drink is on the menu.  Go to full article

Racetrack celebrating Saratoga Heritage Day

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) Saratoga Race Course is celebrating the history and culture of its hometown with a day of activities at the historic track.

The New York Racing Association says Wednesday's Saratoga Heritage Day will feature live music at the grandstand and clubhouse entrances and other locations on the grounds, and performances by a local dance school on the track apron in front of the grandstand.  Go to full article

Paul Smiths College student found dead

Officials at Paul Smiths College say a student died on the campus north of Saranac Lake last night. Details remain unclear, but Nicholas Pendl from Allegany New York, was found dead Tuesday evening.

Pendl was a forestry student and also a member of the college's snowshoe racing and marathon canoe racing teams.  Go to full article
