About Crosswinds

Until recently, this band was called the Thundertones, and it is the longest running band at Akwesasne. Fiddler Joe Jacobs was with the band when they began playing in 1955. In the early days they mostly played for square dances. The repertoire has changed a bit, but the band members agree that it's an honor to have a place in the band's history.  Go to full article

Hockey rivalry heats up before playoffs

The North Country is home to one of the great - some say greatest - rivalries in college hockey. And this year, the St. Lawrence Saints and Clarkson's Golden Knights are one and two, respectively, in their conference. This, despite Clarkson's victories over St. Lawrence in both regular-season match ups. The two teams could face each other in the playoffs. And this has heated up the usual fanaticism surrounding hockey in the North Country.
