Beau Biden, the state Attorney General of Delaware and son of the vice president, has been hospitalized in a Delaware hospital for a "mild stroke," but he is expected to make a complete recovery.

Biden, 41, was admitted to the hospital early this morning. He was widely expected to seek his father's old Senate seat this year until he announced in January that he would not run.

Here is the full text of the statement from Dr. Timothy Gardner, Medical Director of the Center for Heart and Vascular Surgery at Christiana Care Health System:

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden was admitted this morning to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware after having what we believe to be a mild stroke. He is in good spirits and talking with his family at the hospital. He is fully alert, in stable condition and has full motor and speech skills. We expect him to make a complete recovery.
