Sep 9, 2010 — A U.S. appeals lifted temporarily a ban on federal funding of human embryonic stem cell funding.The Obama Administration got an important reprieve Thursday when the federal appeals court issued a temporary stay that will allow federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research to resume while the government appeals a lower court's ban on such funding.
The administration had warned that the ban would cause a major setback to research and cause hundreds of researchers to lose their jobs.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth had rejected the administration plea, saying it overstated the "parade of horribles" that would occur.
But the Appeals Court for the District of Columbia obviously viewed the matter differently.
