Sep 23, 2010 (Morning Edition) — Two views of the war in southern Afghanistan: From an NPR photographer embedded with U.S. troops and a Taliban spokesman.NPR photographer David Gilkey has landed again in Afghanistan. He will soon be sending dispatches from Arghandab, just outside of the city of Kandahar, in southern Afghanistan, where he is embedded with an artillery unit from the Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Meanwhile, Morning Edition host Renee Montagne is reporting from Kandahar, where she reached Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, the spokesman from the Taliban in southern Afghanistan, by telephone to discuss recent claims of success by Afghan and NATO forces.
