Growing up, Pluto was my favorite planet. Since it starts with "p," it was the planet I most identified with (as such, phosphorus was my favorite element).

Yesterday was the 81st anniversary of the then-planet's discovery, and on Saturday, students in Seattle held a protest to reinstate Pluto as a planet. Here are some awesome pictures.

I can't believe it's been five years since the International Astronomical Union downgraded Pluto from planet to large, icy rock. To think that today's children have to make those solar system models with eight styrofoam balls instead of nine just breaks my heart a little.

Also sad, is that the website is still called Go to the site and you'll see that "nine" is crossed out and an "8" is drawn over it in red.

Clearly, a lot of us just aren't ready to accept the change.
