May 23, 2012 — The fallout from Facebook's initial public offering continues to spread, moving from trading screens to potentially the courtroom. This Sunday the annual Grammy Award winners will be announced. One of the biggest categories is Song of the Year, which goes to a songwriter. Every day this week, we'll give you a little intel on one of the nominees. Today, Kanye West's "All Of The Lights."

"All Of The Lights" is from an album that came out in 2010 — a long time ago, but still within the time frame for Grammy consideration this year. It's on West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and its nomination may be a bit of a corrective.

Though Rihanna sings the hook, the pop star up for the award is actually Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, who wrote the song with West and three musicians and producers that often work with his record label, G.O.O.D. Music.

The Grammys are meant to spread the wealth among a fairly predetermined group of top artists. If someone is considered problematic, as some people think West is, but also undeniably talented, he or she might get shut out of the four biggest awards, as Twisted Fantasy was in the album category this year. But the voters will find a way to reward the work somehow, even if it's just by nominating a single great song.
