African Forces Will Be Left To Hang On To French Gains In Mali

Jan 31, 2013 (Morning Edition) — The first phase of the French-led military intervention in the West African nation of Mali -- to drive out Islamist fighters -- appears to be over. Experts warn that most of the African force is not combat-ready for the desert, and is nowhere near prepared to take over from the French.
