Bombadil makes its first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown. While the North Carolina trio borrows its moniker from a figure in the Tolkien universe, the group has made a name for itself with a sophisticated twist on vintage pop and alt-country.

With its quirky and dynamic live shows, Bombadil has been invited to perform at marquee summer festivals such as Bonnaroo, FloydFest and Pickathon; it's also been featured on NPR's Weekend Edition.

The band members are known to share duties instrumentally: Stuart Robinson plays piano, ukulele and drums; Daniel Michalak plays bass and piano; and James Phillips plays drums and bass. This segment includes Bombadil's song "Laundromat," which was not heard during the radio broadcast.

Set List

  • "Laundromat"
  • "A Question"
  • "Boring Country Song"
  • "Have Me"
  • "Honeymoon"
