Oct 19, 2012 — A German regional court effectively banned circumcision this summer after ruling that the ancient practice amounts to assault. That fueled accusations of religious intolerance in a country still haunted by its Nazi past. Now lawmakers are pushing through a bill to make circumcision legal.
Sep 13, 2012 — The New York City Board of Health voted unanimously today in favor of a new regulation that would require parents of young boys who undergo ritual circumcisions involving "direct oral suction" to sign a consent form first. The practice has been linked to serious herpes infections.

Aug 27, 2012 — A doctors group has revised its recommendation after concluding that circumcision helps protect the health of baby boys. Circumcised males are far less likely to get infected with a long list of sexually transmitted diseases, they say. But critics of the procedure are still not convinced.
Aug 21, 2012 — Over the past two decades, circumcision rates in the U.S. have fallen to 55 percent from a peak of about 79 percent. A new analysis from Johns Hopkins researchers suggests the decline will add to health care costs.
