Federal court will redraw congressional district maps

A federal court is taking over the drawing of new congressional district maps in New York, after lawmakers failed to meet their own self-imposed deadline to draw new lines.

Lawmakers have already released new maps for Senate and Assembly lines. Now, a coalition that includes former State Attorney General Robert Abrams is urging Governor Cuomo to use a veto threat as leverage to win changes for next time. Karen DeWitt reports.  Go to full article

Owens gives Obama points, considering the political climate

Democratic Representative Bill Owens says President Barack Obama is doing a "very reasonable job." Owens, who represents New York's 23rd Congressional District, spoke about Obama's job performance during a legislative luncheon at the Downhill Grill in Saranac Lake on Friday.

The event was hosted by the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and drew a crowd of about 25 local business owners and officials. Chris Morris reports.  Go to full article

Doheny campaign drops by for donuts with seniors

A small crowd joined congressional candidate Matt Doheny in Saranac Lake over the weekend to talk politics and nosh on some donuts.

The Watertown businessman and former Wall Street financier hosted his latest "Donuts with Doheny" on Saturday morning at the Saranac Lake Adult Center.
