Top court considers restoring NYC big-soda ban

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) New York City officials are trying to convince the state's top court to reinstate their ban on big sodas, which was blocked by lower courts.

The Court of Appeals is set to hear arguments Wednesday by the city Board of Health that it has the authority to restrict sales of various "sugary drinks" larger than 16 ounces.  Go to full article

A state panel that reports to Governor Cuomo on the obstacles to getting healthy food on people's plates met in Potsdam Wednesday. The New York State Council on Food Policy held one of four listening sessions it's organizing around the state this year.
