Proud Moment at Fort Drum: Soldiers Return from Afghanistan

Fort Drum Soldiers Welcomed Home, Decorated With Ribbons

In early March, soldiers from Fort Drum fought a pitched battle at Shah-I-Khot in Afghanistan. 8 American soldiers died in the fighting. None of those men were based in the North Country. But more than 20 Fort Drum soldiers were injured. Now, the troops who took part in Operation Anaconda are coming home. They're being welcomed by eager families - and recognized for brave service.
