Preview: King's Singers in Potsdam

The King's Singers perform Sunday night (7:30 pm) in SUNY Potsdam's Hosmer Hall. For nearly 40 years, the ensemble has been delighting audiences around the world. Founded in 1968 at King's College in Cambridge, England, the King's Singers are one of the most acclaimed vocal groups. Growing the marketing program geared toward farmers

The "Come Farm With Us" program is expanding. Launched in 2002 by Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and St. Lawrence Counties, it was an attempt to preserve agriculture and agribusiness in the North Country. Essex, Franklin, Madison and Oswego Counties have joined the program. It's reaching beyond New York State trying to entice farmers to relocate here. Arlene Hall is a coordinator for "Come Farm With Us" and she tells Jonathan Brown that the program has already brought at least 75 farming families to the North Country.  Go to full article

Keeping an eye on the border

The federal government wants local people to help it keep an eye on the northern border. That's the message the US Border Patrol delivered last week to the Franklin County Legislature. Ross Delacy is a supervisory agent with the department's Swanton Sector, which runs from Ogdensburg to the state line between New Hampshire and Maine. He told Jonathan Brown that local people are perfectly placed to support the Border Patrol's main mission, patrolling the largely unprotected border between the ports of entry.  Go to full article
