NY, VT reps concerned over impact of proposed defense cuts

NY honor guards at 11,000-plus vets' funerals in 2013

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Members of the New York National Guard's honor guards are expected to have provided military funeral services to more than 11,500 veterans by the end of the year.

State military officials say the Army National Guard's honor guards had provided services for 9,735 ceremonies as of Tuesday and expect to conduct another 265 military funerals by New Year's Day.  Go to full article

NY road march honors deployed US military members

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) Hundreds of marchers are expected to participate in a 3-mile Christmas Eve trek held in an upstate New York community to honor U.S. military personnel who can't be home for the holidays.

New York National Guard officials say soldiers from the Queensbury Readiness Center and other Albany-area units will lead the march starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The march ends back at the downtown arena.  Go to full article
