Jun 18, 2014 — The U.S. Department of the Interior says the new Massachusetts Wind Energy Area would be auctioned off in four leases. It includes more than 1,000 square miles of ocean.

Apr 9, 2013 — A U.S. Senate committee held a confirmation hearing for Ernest Moniz on Tuesday, who has been nominated to be the U.S. Energy Secretary. Moniz says he will retire from MIT, where he's a professor of physics and energy systems. He would advocate for the Obama administration's "all of the above" energy strategy, which calls for continued fossil fuels development and supports nuclear energy, wind and solar.
Aug 27, 2012 — President Obama is headed to Iowa on Tuesday where he will likely talk about wind energy. The president says he'll continue tax credits for wind energy and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he won't.

Wind Turbines New Horizon for Lewis County

The horizon on the Tug Hill Plateau has a new look. More than twenty soaring wind turbines now dot the landscape of Lewis County. Maple Ridge Wind Farms will be the largest supplier of wind energy in New York when it goes online later this fall. David Sommerstein reports.  Go to full article

Adk Conservation Group Opposes Johnsburg Wind Park

An influential conservation group has announced its opposition to a wind turbine farm in the town of Johnsburg. The Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks says the giant towers would harm scenery and spark a wave of new tower construction. Brian Mann has details.  Go to full article

Pataki Adminstration Urges Wind Farm Developers To Avoid Adk Park

The Pataki administration is urging wind power developers to look for sites outside the Adirondack Park. The message was delivered yesterday at a Park Agency meeting in Ray Brook.
