Wind Power
Dec 11, 2013 — California plans to get 33 percent of its electricity from wind and solar power by 2020. But that will only work if the state can economically store some of the energy for release on cloudy, windless days.
Dec 5, 2013 — Under the new plan, each federal agency would have until 2020 to get 20 percent of its power from renewable sources such as solar and wind.
Jun 28, 2013 — The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, or ARPA-E, backs energy technologies that are too risky for investors, but offer a potentially huge payoff — if they work. The agency has gambled on flywheels, compressed air energy storage, lithium-air batteries, even wind-energy kites.
Apr 9, 2013 — A U.S. Senate committee held a confirmation hearing for Ernest Moniz on Tuesday, who has been nominated to be the U.S. Energy Secretary. Moniz says he will retire from MIT, where he's a professor of physics and energy systems. He would advocate for the Obama administration's "all of the above" energy strategy, which calls for continued fossil fuels development and supports nuclear energy, wind and solar.
Jan 4, 2013 — Whether you're a homeowner who bought an energy-saving refrigerator last year or a company hoping to build a wind farm, the tax package Congress just approved may give you a reason to cheer.

Assessing NiMo's Renewable Energy Plan

Niagara Mohawk customers can now choose to buy renewable energy on their latest electric bills. But they'll have to pay more for it, about 1.5 cents per kilowatt hour more. To better understand how this new system works, David Sommerstein spoke with Ann Heidenreich, director of Community Energy Services and the North Country's state representative for energy efficiency.  Go to full article
