Clinton Urges Bush to Abandon Seaway Study
Jan 29, 2004 — In a last ditch effort, Senator Hillary Clinton is calling on President Bush to abandon a study that critics say could lead to a costly and environmentally harmful expansion of the St. Lawrence Seaway. In a recent letter, Clinton urged President Bush not to request funding for the Great Lakes navigation system review in his upcoming 2005 budget, Clinton says the study itself will cost taxpayers millions of dollars and untold damage to the seaway. Heuvelton Restoration Renews Interest in Victorian-era Diva
Jan 21, 2004 — A group of residents and historians in Heuvelton is doing its part to preserve a small part of St. Lawrence County's history. The centerpiece of their work is Pickens Hall, one of the oldest buildings in the village. And the building's restoration has sparked a renewed interest in the career of Bessie Abott, a granddaughter of the original owner of Pickens Hall.
