Listen: "Now at the Uncertain Hour" at Edwards Opera House

On Friday, NCPR, with Square Top Theatre and St. Lawrence University, presented "Now at the Uncertain Hour" a new theatre piece written by Damon Falke and directed by Charlie Pepiton (learn more about the piece in this interview with the show's creative team, on NCPR.)

According to
the show's web site, "Now at the Uncertain Hour" "takes the audience on a journey through the landscape of a soldier's memory as a collector attempts to make sense of what will be left behind. The show asks: in the midst of the relentless currents of time, what can we take hold of that will go on, that will not be lost? The stories blend with the sounds of old time banjo and modular synthesizer to create a unique listening experience."  Go to full article

A proposal on Tuesday's ballot would raise the retirement age for some New York judges from 70 to age 80. The mayoral race in Canton is heating up with two republican candidates in the running. Local elementary school students at Branford Elementary School in Canton have a long tradition of dressing up for a Halloween parade.

Thousands have rallied against the proposed consolidation of mental health facilities in New York, including a psychiatric center in Ogdensburg. Now, the fight may go directly to Governor Cuomo's office. A new hotel in Clayton is part of efforts to makeover the town and bring tourism. In the second half hour, David Sommerstein shares a story on Alan Lomax, who spent 60 years recording everyday people's music.  Go to full article
