Before joining the Enterprise, Chris was the news director for Mountain Communications, which owns several Saranac Lake radio stations, for eight years. Appeal Rejected in ORDA Contract Dispute
May 27, 2005 — A state appeals court has once again ruled in favor of the Olympic Regional Development Authority. ORDA was sued over the awarding of a lucrative food services contract for ski centers at Gore and Whiteface Mountains. Boston Culinary Group claimed that ORDA awarded the contract to a competitor after an unfair bidding process. At Paul Smiths Ceremony, Clinton Calls For Education Funding

After Losing GOP Endorsement, Essex County DA Considers Future
Apr 07, 2005 — Essex County District attorney Ronald Briggs says he's still deciding whether to seek re-election. Briggs, a three-term incumbent, lost the endorsement of the county's Republican committee last week. GOP leaders shocked political observers by supporting Julie Garcia, an attorney from Schroon Lake. Lake Placid Film Festival Fades To Black After 5-Year Run
Apr 06, 2005 — The Lake Placid Film Festival won't go on this summer. The event lost twenty thousand dollars last year. Lake Placid Elects New Mayor
Mar 16, 2005 — Village elections were held in communities across the North Country last night. One of the most hard-fought races was in Lake Placid where current mayor Roby Politi decided not to seek reelection. As Chris Knight reports, the two candidates who wanted the job, village trustees Jamie Rogers and Peter Roy, flooded the airwaves of local radio stations this week with sharp attacks of each other's record. $30 Million Essex Jail Set for APA Approval
Mar 11, 2005 — The Adirondack Park Agency is expected to approve plans today for the new Essex County jail. A discussion at yesterday's APA session in Ray Brook passed without controversy. Olympic Torch Extinguished in Lake Placid, No Money for Fuel
Feb 17, 2005 — The Olympic Torch in Lake Placid was relit last weekend as part of the 25th anniversary of the 1980 Winter Games. But officials at the Olympic Regional Development Authority say the flame had to be extinguished because there wasn't enough money to pay for the fuel needed to keep it burning. Tupper Lake Developer Reveals Backers
Jan 24, 2005 — The Pennsylvania developer who hopes to build a massive vacation home resort in Tupper Lake has unveiled his team of investors. Michael Foxman plans to sell building lots for more than eight hundred homes and condos on a parcel surrounding the Big Tupper Ski area. The project is now under review by the Adirondack Park Agency. Foxman has faced questions about his background, which includes a Federal indictment in the 1990s following the collapse of a savings and loan. Last week, he provided the names and resumes for a half-dozen principal partners, who will spend roughly seven million dollars to acquire the Big Tupper property. Aspen Expert Says Adirondacks Faces Resort Housing Crisis
Jan 20, 2005 — At an affordable housing conference Wednesday in Saranac Lake, regional leaders heard a presentation from Mick Ireland. Ireland is a local government leader in Aspen, Colorado. That resort community has fought back against the pressures of vacation home development, creating more than 2,000 units of protected middle-income housing. Tupper Lake: New Resort Development Will Close Historic Hunting Club
Jan 10, 2005 — A historic sportsmen's club in Tupper Lake is expected to lose access to more than two thousand acres of forest land. Local members have been hunting and fishing on the land for more than fifty years. As Chris Knight reports, a new housing development at the Big Tupper ski area will end the lease. Go to full article
