Profile of Families Along Nassau Lake: One of the State's Superfund Sites

The New York State legislature adjourned for the summer without reaching an agreement with Governor Pataki on how to refinance the bankrupt state superfund. According to a study done by the Public Interest research Group, one in four New Yorkers lives near a polluted waste site. Democrats Quell Party In-Fighting

This week leaders of the state Democratic party tried to quell in-fighting among the two Democratic candidates and to unify to fight against Governor Pataki in November's election. While the Democrats struggled, the object of their ire was on vacation in the Finger Lakes. Disabled Rights Group Rallies for Better Housing

An activist group seeking rights for the disabled, has been making progress for better housing through protests. The group, known by the acronym, ADAPT, has in recent months shut down, for a time, parts of the State Health Department and office of the State Senate Leader. Cuomo amd McCall Trail Pataki in Campaign Fundraising

The two democratic candidates in the governor's race have raised much smaller amounts of money than Governor Pataki's record-breaking $12.7 million. Pataki Raises Big Bucks for Re-election Bid

Leading his potential Democratic opposition by 2-to-1 in the polls, Republican Governor Pataki reports today that he has concluded his most successful six-months of campaign fund raising ever.
