It was a surprise for the UpNorth Music team to find a group of men born in the 80s so ardently devoted to the sound of 70s progressive rock, but Queen August is absolutely committed to bringing the complex structure of prog music back to the pop music scene. Great vocal harmonies and a great sense of humor characterize this band composed of three brothers and a close friend. Most of Maxon's repertoire is Christian music, but they play a range of songs from Broadway shows, Brittany Spear and even Kermit the Frog.  Go to full article

About Faith Has Fallen

This band plays metalcore, a form of music that developed out of heavy metal. Since there are not many opportunities for metalcore bands to perform their music locally, Faith Has Fallen tries to reach metalcore enthusiasts through traveling to other regions and online. They compose songs as a group, starting with guitar riffs for which they compose lyrics. This is very loud, aggressive music performed by some very talented guys.  Go to full article

A steel drum is a surprise in the North Country, but Dan Hammond believes this Caribbean instrument is a great match for the sun, water and resorts of the 1000 Islands. In addition to playing Caribbean style music, he adapts local music, such as old-time fiddle tunes, to the instrument.
