Dr. Curt Stager is professor of biology at Paul Smith's, The College of the Adirondacks. He has published numerous articles in National Geographic, Science, Wild Earth, and Adirondac.  In 1998, he published his first book, Field Notes from the Northern Forest (Syracuse University Press, ISBN 0-8156-0513-7). Dr. Stager obtained his Ph.D. in zoology and geology from Duke University in 1985.  His research interests  (ranging from aquatic ecology to global climate change) have led him to East and West Africa, the South Pacific, Sweden, and much of eastern North America.  He also composes, records, and performs on guitar and banjo.
