Nov 20, 2007 — The Glens Falls Post Star ran an article over the weekend describing the closure of several major, cornerstone businesses in North Creek. The news comes just as the village is gearing up for the peak tourism season at the Gore Mountain Ski Center. The Copperfield Inn, a 31-room upscale lodge located downtown, employed as many as fifty people. The hotel has apparently shut its doors for good. So has the Mountain & Boardertown ski shop, along with two popular restaurants. Brian Mann checked in with Johnsburg town supervisor Bill Thomas, who says the closing of the Copperfield came as a surprise.
