NY appeals "devastating" property tax decision
Dec 10, 2007 — New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is appealing a state Supreme Court decision issued last month that threatens to halt all property tax payments paid on state-owned land. If upheld, the ruling would force New York to scrap its system for paying tens of millions of dollars in property taxes on parcels of public property. Communities in the Adirondacks would be hardest hit. As Brian Mann reports, the ruling has added a dangerous new twist to the broader debate over property taxes.
