Dec 28, 2007 — Across the North Country, there are dozens of old dams and millponds sitting unused. A century ago, they provided vital hydro-power for the region's industries. Now the mayor of Lake Placid hopes to see a dam on one Adirondack river brought back to life. The goal is to put the Olympic village on the cutting edge of the new post-oil economy, testing a new system for producing environmentally friendly hydrogen.
