New York Times reports Spitzer implicated in prostitution ring
Mar 10, 2008 — Gov. Eliot Spitzer apologized to his famiily and the public today, but did not explain or take questions about a report of his involvement with a prostitution ring. Reading a statement, the governor said: "I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better."
The once-popular Governor has experienced a turbulent and sometimes controversial first year in office, but had been riding high following the Democratic Party's upset win in the 48th Senate District special election.
