Fierce Norovirus outbreaks in North Country reflect national trends
Mar 26, 2008 — Over the last month, two Norovirus outbreaks in the North Country have made more than four hundred people sick, causing severe vomiting and diahhrea. The most recent case has been linked to the Great Escape waterpark in Queensbury. Four families have filed a lawsuit against the park's owners. During another outbreak at the Horace Nye nursing home in Elizabethtown, three elderly patients died. Brian Mann called a scientist at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta to find out what a Norovirus is and why these outbreaks are so difficult to contain. He spoke with Dr. Marc-Alain Widdowson, a senior science fellow.
