State Officials Prepare for Next Round of Military Base Closures

A decade ago, a base-closing sweep cost New York ten-thousand jobs at bases in Plattsburgh, Rome and Staten Island. In the last round of base closures, in 1995, Governor Pataki says lobbying efforts allowed the state to avoid cuts of some four-thousand jobs in Rome and Niagara Falls.
