Jul 02, 2002 — The new 118th Assembly district is known as the "river district", because it runs from Watertown in the south, along eastern Lake Ontario to the Thousand Islands, then along the St. Lawrence River to Massena. Most agree it was created to help Democrats, specifically former Jefferson County legislature chair Darryl Aubertine, win the seat. Three Republicans are running for the GOP bid.
