Decision could open Adirondack roads to motorized use

Listen to this story
A Lake Placid snowmobiler has won a landmark case over motorized access to a road in the Adirondacks. Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Pete Grannis has dismissed a ticket issued to Jim McCulley for operating his pick-up truck on Old Mountain Road. The old road runs between North Elba and Keene in Essex County. It's part of the popular Jackrabbit cross country ski trail. As Chris Knight reports, the decision turns on the point of when an old road is technically abandoned...or not. And it could have implications for Forest Preserve roads throughout the Adirondack Park.
