Being White & Hip Hop in Upstate NY
Glens Falls, NY, Jul 09, 2009 — In the North Country today, teenagers are as likely to be listening to hip hop music as country. If you want to know why, Sean Lewis wants to tell you. It's based largely on Lewis' life growing up a hip hop fan in the rural, mostly white Mohawk River valley. Lewis told David Sommerstein the idea for the play came to him while auditioning for roles fresh out of college with a major in theater.
